PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compsn. giving a compact excellent in strength, having a large specific surface area and useful as an adsorbent for various materials, a catalyst carrier, etc., by blending inorg. powder having no self-sintering property with a vinylidene chloride resin as a strength imparting agent. SOLUTION: Inorg. powder, preferably porous powder and/or active carbon powder or zeolite powder having >=10 m<2> /g BET specific surface area and 1-20 μm average particle size is blended with 1-100 pts.wt. (expressed in terms of solid) vinylidene chloride resin based on 100 pts.wt. of the inorg. powder. It is preferable that a plasticizer imparting agent selected from among natural polysaccharides such as curdlan and/or a compacting aid selected from among a cellulose compd. such as hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, a polyhydroxy compd. and a polyvinyl polymer is further added by 0.5-50 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the inorg. powder. |
