[Also in Division F2] A method of securing a ferrule having internal annular grooves 8 to a tube 2 comprises inserting a sleeve 6 of ductile material into the tube and expanding the sleeve and the tube into the grooves 8. The tube may be of aluminium or aluminium alloy, or form the end of a stainlesssteel corrugated bellows, the ferrule being of aluminium or stainless-steel; the sleeve-metal is not stated. A tapered section 14 is formed at one end of the ferrule and a shoulder 10 at the other for engagement by the sleeve and/or tube. The sleeve and tube are expanded by frusto-conioal rolls, as described in Specification 692,571.
