PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability of the materials of equipment in contact with a hot dip galvanizing bath and the quality of a hot dip galvanized product. SOLUTION: The materials of equipment such as a sink roll 10, a support roll 6 and a bearing in contact with a hot dip galvanizing bath are formed by nitriding a stainless steel to form a nitride layer and the diffusion layer of nitrogen on the surface. The equipment consisting of stainless steel in contact with the hot dip galvanizing bath is nitrided in the salt bath contg. a cyan salt, cyanate, carbonate, etc., or heat-treated in an atmosphere contg. ammonia and nitrogen to form a nitride layer on the surface of the equipment.
