PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Al-based body and an Al-based composite body excellent in the joining strength with the cast iron inserted therein. SOLUTION: A manufacturing method of an Al-based composite body comprises a process where an oxide film on the surface of the cast iron 3 is removed, and its surface is activated, a process where a protective plating layer of 0.8μm<=a<=5μm in thickness is formed on the surface of the cast iron 3, a process in which the cast iron 3 is preheated in the reducing gas atmosphere and the oxide on the surface of the protective plating layer is reduced, a process where the protective plating layer is eliminated through the diffusion phenomenon and an Al-based plating layer is formed on the surface of the cast iron 3 by immersing the cast iron 3 in the Al-based molten metal, a process where the cast iron 3 is rapidly cooled in the inert gas atmosphere, and a process where the cast iron 3 is inserted in an Al-based body 2.
