An apparatus for the production of livestock forage wherein a finely divided mixture including skimmed milk powder and liquid vegetable and/or animal fat is intimately contacted by a gas stream having a maximum temperature not exceeding 0 DEG C., the velocity and moisture content of which stream are so selected that the fat acquires a crystalline structure to prevent the mixture from caking, comprises a closed cycle including a cooler leading to a first conduit having a fan for a first gas stream and leading to a second separate conduit having a fan for a second gas stream, said first and second conduits leading to one end of a treatment vessel and having separating means, for separating the gas stream and the mixture, extending towards the other end of the treatment vessel before the entrance opening of the gas discharge conduit which returns to the cooler, and having near the inlet end of the treatment vessel one or more outlet openings for the treated particles, to which opening means are connected for packing and discharging the treated particles. |
