PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously generate hydrogen by the contact of water with SiO or Si without replenishing SiO or Si, by using an SiO2 -base catalyst having a specified electrode potential. SOLUTION: Natural zeolite is used as starting material. Pure water is injected into an evacuated furnace contg. the zeolite by an amt. (weight) equal to or larger than that of the zeolite. The internal temp. of the furnace is raised from a starting temp. of 100-200 deg.C to a final objective temp. of 350-700 deg.C at <=10 deg.C/min rate and pure water is additionally injected while holding the furnace at >350 deg.C so that the amt. of pure water is kept equal to or larger than that of the zeolite. The concn. of oxygen increases continuously by the decomposition of water. At the time when the concn. of oxygen in the furnace becomes an equilibrium state, hydrogen, oxygen and steam are discharged by evacuating the furnace. By this method, the objective SiO2 -base catalyst having 100-700 mV electrode potential (standard oxidation-reduction potential) is produced.
|
