A steam generator 1, fired with refuse 3, operates in a closed cycle 30, the steam generated in tube banks 10<SP>1</SP>, 10<SP>11</SP>, 10<SP>111</SP> in flue passes 6, 6<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>11</SP> passing from the collecting drum 16 around conduit 31 through external heat exchanger 17 to the air or water-cooled condenser 11, the working medium then flowing through regulating valve 19 and mechanical circulating pump 23 back to the generator 1 through inlet conduit 15. The flow round the cycle 31 is controlled by controller 25 acting on the valve 19 or the pump 23 to maintain the flue gas temperature at outlet 7, measured by senser 24, constant. The secondary portion 17a of heat exchanger 17 is connected by conduit 17<SP>1</SP> regulating valve 20 and circulating pump 33 to heat consumer 18 the cooled water returning via line 17<SP>11</SP>. Controller 32 acts to adjust valve 20 or pump 33 to maintain the flue gas outlet temperture constant or to meet the requirements of heat consumer 18.</p> |
