A diversity transmission circuit for a base station comprises a plurality of antennas 117, 133, transmitting and receiving circuits. The signal strength received by each of the antennas is determined and used by a judging circuit 143 to simultaneously connect each of the plurality of transmission circuits to an antenna via a network of switches 113 - 115, 129 - 131. A higher priority transmission signal may be transmitted via the antenna having the greatest received signal strength, whilst lower priority transmissions are transmitted by an antennas having lower received signal strengths. The signal strength of several frequencies present in the received signal may be determined and the frequency having the greatest received signal strength is used for subsequent transmissions. |
