PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hydrogen storage alloy high in electrode capacitance, having long life characteristics and excellent in high rate dischargiability by preparing an alloy composed of specified ratios of Ti, Mn, La, V, Ni or the like and in which fine crystal phases having specified grain size are precipitated into a part of the alloy structure. SOLUTION: An alloy having a compsn. expressed by the general formula, Ta Mnb Rc Md M'e (T denotes one or more kinds of elements selected from among Ti, Zr and Hf, R denotes one or more kinds of elements selected from among La and Ce, M denotes one or more kinds of elements selected from among V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo and W, M' denotes one or more kinds of elements selected from among Fe, Co, Ni, Cu or the like, and, as for (a), (b), (c), (d) and (e), by atomic ratio, respectively, 0.90<=a<=1.10, 1.0<=b<=2.0, 0.001<=c<=0.1, 0<=d<=0.5, 0<=e<=0.5 and 1.3<=b+c+d+e<=2.3 are satisfied), and fine crystal phases having <=20 μm grain size are precipitated into at lest a part of the alloy structure is prepd. In this way, the hydrogen storage alloy excellent in hydrogen adsorbability and corrosion resistance can be obtd. |
