PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject guide member by forming a guide plane for a fishing line on the surface of a ceramic material containing silicon carbide as the main component and forming pores in the vicinity of the guide plane, to thereby reduce the contact surface between the guide plane and the fishing line for minimizing the frictional resistance while maintaining the high strength. SOLUTION: This guide member is obtained by forming a guide plane for a fishing rod on the surface of a ceramic containing silicon carbide as the main component (e.g. ceramic containing silicon carbide as the main component and metal oxides such as Al2 , O3 , Y2 , and O3 , as the sintering additive obtained by liquid phase sintering) and providing pores (preferably at the porosity of 0.2 to 5.0% and the mean diameter of >=10 μm) in the vicinity of the guide plane. Preferably, the coefficient of friction between the guide member and the fishing line is >=0.4. |
