Prepn. of negative-working wash-off relief images comprises (i) imagewise applying an ink to a non-photosensitive, aq. processable layer comprising a dispersion of solvent-coalescing particles in a polymer matrix to coat the particles and form a continuous phase, water-insol. polymer blend of coalesced particles with the polymer matrix in the ink-applied areas; and then (ii) washing the layer with an aq. developer to remove the non-ink applied areas.
