CASTING MOULD FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING OF STEEL, IN PARTICULAR FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING OF THIN SLABS

The mould is designed for continuous thin slab casting. Ithas wide sides with a profile in a vertical plane formed by aspecific number of arc-type lines which are outlined one after/toanother. The arcs of the peripheral surface have bending radiuswith sizes reducing downwards with values reaching infinity on theinlet side where the tangent to the profile is vertical, until itreaches, by a continuous line, a known lower bend arc on theoutlet side of the casting mould. The arc of the peripheralsurface has a centre matching the centre of oscillation of thecasting mould fitted along the height between the level of itsinlet and outlet sides. Preferably the form of the profile iseliptical commencing from the inlet side with a vertical tangentcontinuing downwards to the lower arc of the peripheral surface sothat bending changes and a continuous curvature is ensured on thatsurface.9 claims, 5 figures
