PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a pet food capable of remarkably reducing production cost by remarkably shortening production time compared with a conventional method and provide a method for producing a pet food capable of imparting texture and appearance similar to actual meat by scattering small grain-like mass into a pet food. SOLUTION: This method for producing a pet food comprises a kneading process for carrying out kneading of a raw material, a heating and compressing process for carrying out heating and compression of the raw material after the kneading or simultaneously with kneading, a cooling process for cooling the heated and compressed raw material and a forming process for forming the cooled raw material. The raw material contains saccharide and the saccharide is crystallized in many small grains in the cooling process. The raw material contains a protein such as casein, non-fat powder milk, gluten, soybean protein or whey protein or a mixture essentially of the protein and in the heating process, the protein is solidified into many small grains. |
