In a crankshaft with hollow cranks, spreading means are inserted into the exit openings of the base cranks and the lifting cranks in the crank webs, which spreading means are distributed over the cross- section and generate a prestressing in the material of the crank webs in order to achieve an increased bending and torsional strength and to prevent formations of cracks in the shaft cross-section which is at risk.
