The invention relates to a pen for applying coloured fluid having a casing section (1) which has an outlet opening (3) for the coloured fluid, which opening can be closed by a valve. The valve comprises resilient means with at least one leaf spring (6, 6') or a disc spring and a guide member (4) pressed by the resilient means against a ball (5) which is acted upon in the direction of the outlet opening (3). When the pen point is pressed against a base, the ball (5) moves into an open position. The advantage of using leaf or disc springs (6; 6') is that these springs are easy to install, and moreover can be made of plastic and, in particular, produced with the guide member (4) to form a single part.
