The arrangement includes a projection light source (1) and projection optics (3), whereby the radiation path between them is divided by color-selective beam splitters (4,5) into three spatially separated color channels (R, B, G), and these three color channels are combined again before the projection optics by device of beam combination mirrors (6,7). A light modulator (11,21,31) consisting from a polarizing beam splitter arrangement (12, 22, 32), a light valve (13, 23, 33), and a CRT (14,24,34) is arranged in each of the three color channels. A pre-polarizer (15,25) is connected in series to the light modulator in one of the three color channels. A control circuit (16) for the respective CRTs is provided in the three color channels, which controls a video signal supplied to the respective CRT, and modulates the projection light through the light valves, according to a video image. The pre-polarizer includes a number of alternately side by side arranged, first and second stripes (151,152) of a dielectric polarization layer, which are oriented the same way. The first stripes (151) are arranged symmetrically to the second stripes (152) to form a roof-like, ribbed structure. |
