A sports shoe to be used especially as a running or track shoe has an upper consisting of leather, preferably kangaroo leather, of a thickness of less than 1mm., wherein the flesh side of the leather of the upper faces outwardly and is provided with a waterproofing impregnation or coating such as a silicon based waterproofing. Parts of the upper which are exposed to wear and which may be stretched e.g. the ball and heel parts may have a protective coating sprayed on to the leather, and tension straps of plastics material may be welded or sewn on to the upper. |
