PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically detect and remove a foreign matter on an insulating tape by determining the position of the foreign matter with a linear light source and a camera, and punching and removing the foreign matter with a punch. SOLUTION: An inspecting tape 5 with the width W is fed by a fixed length L in the direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of a linear light source 2. When the insulating tape 5 is complete, the intensity in the direction X of the transmitted light is uniform. The transmitted light intensity distribution in the direction X can be instantaneously known because of the linear light. An XY table 1 is scanned by the distance L in the direction Y. When a foreign matter exists in the range of L×W, the image of the foreign matter is clearly photographed by a camera as a shadow. The position of the XY table 1 when the foreign matter is detected is known from the coordinates shown by an XY table drive device. The size of the foreign matter is known from the intensity distribution and spread in the direction X and the direction Y. When the foreign matter is larger than the prescribed size, it is removed. The position of the foreign matter in the stationary coordinates is found, the XY table 1 is moved to move a punch 4 there, and a hole is bored on the tape 5 to remove the foreign matter. |
