PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate an interpolating curve which connects two curves more smoothly. SOLUTION: Two curves and the interpolating curve are so generated that not only curvature, but also the rate of variation in radius of curvature become equal to each other. Further, the interpolating curve is generated by using a tertiary Paget curve in consideration of curvature, etc., (steps S8-S7). This tertiary Paget curve is increased in degree to generate a quintic Bezier curve (steps S8-S8), and the quintic Bezier consisting of six control points has only a 3rd control point and a 4th control point moved to equalize the variation rate of the radius of curvature to those of the said two curves while holding the curvature continuous. Thus, the smooth interpolating curve is generated in consideration of not only the curvature, but also the variation rate of the radius of curvature. |
