PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized free-electron laser device which is constituted of a smaller number of elements and which can emit free-electron laser 19 over a wide wavelength range, particularly, in the wavelength range suitable for atmosphere sensing. SOLUTION: A free-electron laser device is constituted to emit a plurality of free-electron laser(FEL) beams in different wavelength domains by arranging a plurality of linear accelerators 2 and 4 in series so that one undulator 6 can emit light after an electron beam passes through all linear accelerators 2 and 4 and, at the same time, by introducing the the electron beam directly to the undulator 6 by causing the electron beam to overflow the accelerators 2 and 4 by means of a deflecting electromagnetic group 3. Particularly, the laser device is constituted to change the wavelength of the emitted free-electron laser beam within the range of 2.3-26μm.
