PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pharmaceutical composition that can alleviate the severity of rheumatoid arthritis such as a cytokine inhibitor in a human body that tends to express rheumatoid arthritis by formulating a peptide having a specific amino acid sequence to the composition. SOLUTION: A peptide represented by formula I X1 is a group of formula II (R1 is H, COCH3 ; C2 H5 , CH2 Ph, COPh; R2 is H, COCH3 ; R3 is a 1-6C alkyl; Y is O, H2 , S), H, COCH3 ; X2 is a group of formula III [R4 is (CH2 )m -CONH2 , (CH2 )m -CONHR1 ]; X3 is a group of formula IV [R5 is OH, OR3 , NH2 , SH, NHCH3 , NHCH2 Ph; R6 is H, R3 ; n is 0, 1, 2, 3], NH2 } and a carrier that is pharmaceutically acceptable are formulated to the composition whereby the objective pharmaceutical composition is obtained that is useful as a cytokine inhibitor alleviating the severity of rheumatoid arthritis.
