A satellite tracking system for pointing a receiving antenna (1) toward a satellite comprises a pointing device (2), control means (3) and satellite tracking means (7). The pointing device (2) includes a first plate (14) and a second plate (28), with a plurality of linear actuators (21, 22, 23, 24) therebetween for controlling the spatial angle between the first and second plates by varying the length of each actuator. The first plate is attached to a fixed location or base and the second plate is used to attach a directional antenna thereto. The control means include means for computing the required length for each actuator, according to the desired orientation of the antenna. The satellite tracking means include means for initiating scanning movements of the antenna to detect angular deviations of its receiving axis from the direction of the satellite, and for correcting that deviations. |
