Equipment for stripping or regenerating catalyst particles in a fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit, by counter-current gas treatment of the particles in a dense fluidised bed moving downwards in a treatment chamber (4a), includes respective conduits (18, 10) for top charging of particles to be treated and bottom discharge of treated particles and a line (7) for feeding treatment gas into the bottom of the chamber. The novelty is that vertical partitions (26) extend continuously over most (preferably 50-90, especially 60-80 %) of the bed height (H) to define individual independent treatment cells. Also claimed is a process for stripping or regenerating catalyst particles in a dense fluidised bed in a treatment chamber of an FCC unit, in which the particles are treated in individual independent treatment cells as described above, the density of the contiguous dense fluidised beds in the cells preferably being 400-800 kg/m<3>. |
