PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method and an apparatus in which an image quality can be evaluated accurately by a method wherein an image noise caused by a change in the fine surface structure of an image irradiated with light is separated from an image caused by a change in the internal structure of the image, a photometric operation is performed and a colorimetric operation is performed. SOLUTION: Incident light 4 as a luminous flux which is emitted from a light source 2 equipped with a collimator and which is linearly polarized to a P-direction or an S-direction is shone at an image 1 to be evaluated, and reflected light 5 is separated into a P-direction component and an S-direction component by a polarizing filter 6. For example, when P- polarized light is used as illumination light, the light is separated into a P-direction component and an S-direction component, the P-direction component is input to a light-receiving element 8, a photometric operation and a colorimetric operation are performed by adding surface reflected light to internal reflected light 1. On the other hand, when S-polarized light is used as illumination light, the S-direction component is input to the light-receiving element 8, and the photometric operation and the colorimetric operation of only internal reflected light 2 are performed. At this time, the internal reflected light 1 is equivalent to the internal reflected light 2, an image processor 11 computes the photometric value and the colorimetric value of only a surface component by a difference computing operation. In addition, the internal reflected light 2 is doubled, the photometric value and the colorimetric value of only the internal reflected light are computed, and two-dimensional image information is obtained together with position information by a position control circuit 9. |
