PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device capable of stably and correctly performing the residual developer detection. SOLUTION: This device is constituted with a developing vessel containing the developer, the developer carrier feeding the developer in the developer vessel on an image carrier, an freely rotatable agitating member (agitating means) 5 letting the developer in the developing vessel shifted toward the developer carrier, and residual quantity detecting means 13 detecting the residual of the developer in the developer vessel. In this case, the residual quantity detecting means 13 is made to serve also as the agitating member 5, and position detection means (projecting part) 9a is equipped for detecting the position detecting the residual of the developer in a rotary cycle of the agitating member 5. In the meantime, on conceding so that the residual quantity detecting means 13 is operated when the agitating member 5 being rotary driven comes in a specific position with respect to the developer carrier, the residual developer can be always detected in the same posture, therefore the residual developer in the developing device can be stably and correctly detected. |
