摘要
1,099,689. Latch fastenings. ORSCHELN BRAKE LEVER MANUFACTURING CO. Jan. 15, 1965 [June 11, 1964], No. 1899/65. Heading E2A. A fastening device for fastening a tilt cab frame of a vehicle in a closed position relative to a chassis frame 19 thereof comprises a keeper 18 and includes a rigid first box section having vertical walls a horizontal first plate 43 secured to said vertical walls and containing a first opening and a horizontal pin 42 secured between' an opposed pair of said walls adjacent said opening; a hook mechanism 21 adapted for connection with the other of said frames and including a rigid second box section having a horizontal second plate 48 containing a second opening, a generally vertical hook member 50 extending through said second opening, means connecting the hook member with the second box section, said hook member including a hook recess 52, said keeper and book mechanism being arranged so that when said cab is in the closed position said plates are in contiguous surface-to-surface engagement and said hook member extends through said first opening for fastening engagement with said pin-cushioning means 15 connected with either the keeper or the hook mechanism for interposition between the keeper or the hook mechanism and the corresponding frame for cushioning shocks into opposite directions; a cam 54 and a single lever 65 for successively displacing said hook member between fastening, safety and release positions relative to said pin, said hook member when in the safety position being arranged with the hook recess thereof spaced from but in vertical opposed alignment with said pin; and spring means 164 normally biassing said hook member from said released position towards said safety position. Two hook mechanisms are normally used both operated by a single operating lever assembly 25 which includes the lever 65, and two keepers which cooperate with the hook mechanisms The box section of each keeper consists of two slightly spaced riser members which are U-shaped channel members, these being connected together at the top by the plate 43 and at the bottom by a bracket 140. The pin 42 is connected to the two riser members and spans the space between them. The plates 43 in addition to the opening for receiving the hook memlber, which is in the form of a slot, has an opening for receiving a guide pin 49 of the hook mechanism. The cushioning means 15 as shown, is provided between the keeper and a bracket 135 of the chassis frame 19 and consists of two separate sets of parts, each comprising two rubber pads 30, 33 one on each side of the bracket 140, a tubular sleeve passing through the bracket 140 and through each rubber pad, .a top plate and a nut and bolt holding the parts together and to the chassis frame bracket 135. In a modification the cushioning means is provided between the hook mechanism and the cab frame in which case the bracket 140 is rigidly fixed to the chassis frame 19. The box section of the hook mechanism comprises two U shaped channel members, the channels of which face each other and which are connected at the top by a plate 149 and at the bottom by the plate 48. The plate 48 carries the guide peg 49. The hook member 50 is pivotally connected to two links 55 which in turn are pivotally connected to a block 57 carried by the plate 48. On the pivot pin 53 which connects the hook member to the links 55 is the cam 54 which is generally in the shape of a bell crank lever. The upper end portion of the hook member 50 is provided with an offset portion 62 from which an extension bar 163 extends upwardly, the upper end of the bar being connected to the box section by a pair of the springs 164. The upper end of the cam 54 is connected via a yoke 61 to the operating lever assembly 25. The operating lever assembly comprises a housing having twoparallel plates each of which has a slot 69; near one end of the plate, the lever 65 is pivoted by means of a pin 67 and the lever is connected by means of a link to the pivot pin 70 of an equaliser bar 71, the pin being slidable in the slot 69. The equaliser bar is connected by means of links 72 and 73 to control rods 74 and 75 and these control rods are connected in turn to the yokes 61 of the hook members. Upward movement of the lever 65 from the release position shown, causes pivotal movement of the cam 54 of each hook mechanism about pivot pin 53 and this pivotal movement of the cam causes its end portion to bear against the plate 48 and to raise the pivot pin so that the hook member is brought into engagement with the pin 42. The lever 65 can be moved to such an extent that the link connecting the lever with the equaliser bar 71 moves beyond the centre of the pivot pin 47 of the lever and this prevents release of hook members from the pins 42. For extra safety, a spring loaded latch member 77 is pivoted to the lever 65 and is engageable with a pin 76 on the housing in the fastening position of the lever 65. When the lever 65 is lowered from the fastening position, the hook member of each hook mechanism is first lowered vertically from the position in which it engages the pin and to complete the release of the book member from the pin the hook member must then be pivoted; until this pivoting takes place each hook mechanism is in the safety position since upward movement of the hook mechanism would engage the hook member with the pin to limit such upward movement. Complete release is effected by moving the lever 65 to the vertical position which causes the yoke 61 of each hook mechanism to engage the extension bar 163 of the hook member to pivot the hook member about its pin 53 against the bias of the springs 164. The strength of the springs is such that if the lever is released, it and the hook members are automatically moved back to the safety condition. It is stated that one hook mechanism and the corresponding keeper only can be provided if desired instead of two.
