PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a safe protective agent against virus infection, having wide infection protecting activities against viruses by formulating lactoferrin as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: The objective preparation having strong protective activities against influenza virus or cytomegalovirus and treatment activities is safely and cheaply obtained by formulating >=0.1μm lactoferrin (an iron-bondable protein having cyanuric acid and mannose in a sugar chain structure, e.g. the one obtained by separating from milk, poultry albumen, etc., and purifying the separated material, or a partially and enzymatically degraded material thereof, preferably, having <=60% degradation rate) alone or in combination based on 1g dose composition corresponding to the route of administration. Especially, because the iron-bondable protein is not affected by an antigenic change of the influenza virus, a wide prevention effect is expected.
