METHOD FOR PRODUCING HONEYCOMB STRUCTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformize thermal expansion as a whole by strengthening and stabilizing a bonding part in a method for producing a monolithic honeycomb structure. SOLUTION: A first mixture consisting of a raw material and a binder is formed into a green honeycomb. A second mixture consisting of the raw material and the binder is extruded to one or more green members. An opening part extended in the longitudinal direction is provided in the inside of one or more green members. The raw material of the second mixture is compatible with the raw material of the first mixture. The green honeycomb and one or more green members are dried and the binder of the green honeycomb and one or more green members is softened on the surface to be joined in the following process. One or more green members are inserted into the honeycomb and joined to the honeycomb to form the assembly thereof. The assembly is dried and burned to form a monolithic honeycomb structure having single structure.
