<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain effective and flexible transmission of a fixed-length cell by deciding and driving a light sending part of the transmission side and a light receiving part of the reception side which are used, in accordance with the using band at the transmitting time of data (fixed length cell). SOLUTION: A fixed-length cell transmitting device 1 drives the light sending parts 12-i, only in numbers necessary for the transmission of data (fixed-length cell) based on the band information on an input fixed length cell. The data are supplied only to those necessary parts 12-i, and the fixed-length cell converted into the optical signals is outputted to a fixed-length cell receiving device 2. Meanwhile, the device 2 drives the light-receiving parts 21-i, corresponding to the parts 12-i of the device 1 via a reception control part 22 and converts the received fixed length cell of optical signals into electrical signals. That is, the parts 12-i and 21-i are driven only in numbers necessary for the transmission of data, based on the band information on the input fixed length cell. As a result, the data can be effectively transmitted with no transmission of an idle cell, etc.</p> |
