A jet of molten aluminium is divided into small particles and accelerated by a rotating spray unit. The particles are hurled against a cooled surface, on which they are deformed into small platelets. These are collected, in some cases classified by size and stored or transferred for further processing. Typically, the spray unit (40) produces flying particles (11), which impact into the forming surface (31) at an angle of 80-100 deg (~a). |
