PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record a compressed image file while effectively utilizing the capacity of recording medium in the configuration of recording image data through compression encoding into the recording medium. SOLUTION: When the remaining capacity of storage medium exceeds prescribed amount (S2), variable length compression is executed for performing compression processing while fixing a scale factor sf as a compression parameter for changing the capacity of compressed image file (S5) and when the remaining capacity gets near minimum capacity, on the other hand, fixed length compression is executed for performing compression processing while setting this scale factor sf so that the capacity of compressed image file can become the remaining capacity (S4). Besides, when the capacity of compressed image file provided by variable length compression exceeds the remaining capacity in spite of the state of remaining capacity exceeding the prescribed quantity (S9), fixed length compression is performed so as to settle the image file within the remaining capacity (S10). |
