Process involves bending a solid core panel (1) of sandwich construction. The panel has two thin metallic facings (3) spaced apart by and joined to the rigid polymer core layer. Two or more parallel straight-line grooves (5, 5a, 6) are formed on the inside of the intended bend by deformation. Bending is then started, closing one or more of the grooves back onto itself. Bending is completed by further closing of the grooves. This compresses the rigid core (4). It also spreads the metal of the internal facing (2) which is located between the grooves, towards the interior of the bend. |
