PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner in which an air blowing amount is automatically changed in correspondence with a variation in thermal load without producing any reduction in comfortable feeling in utilization and thereby it is possible to perform a controlling to cause a room temperature to be rapidly approached to such a temperature as one desired by a user. SOLUTION: This air conditioner has a room temperature sensor 16 and a control section 5. An indoor heat exchanger 4 having an indoor fan 6 installed therein is acted as an evaporator to perform a freezing operation. A control section 5 subtracts a target room temperature set by a remote controller from a room temperature detected by a room temperature sensor 16 to attain a temperature differenceΔd. When this temperature differenceΔd is more than 1 deg.C, a value of 20 rpm is multiplied by this value to attain a target number of rotation. In the case that the target number of rotation is positive in number and higher than 20 rpm, or in the case that the target number of rotation is negative in number and higher at its negative side than -50 rpm, the number of rotation of the indoor fan 6 is increased or decreased toward the target number of rotation.
