PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming system by which whether or not a function of the image forming system selected by the user or the operator is available at present is reported. SOLUTION: In the image forming system that is configured by interconnecting a plurality of digital image forming devices, command data that are used to command transfer of image data, to control an image forming device and to denote functions and states are transferred via an external device I/F 800 and transferred data and data denoting functions of each image forming device are stored in a RAM or an NVRAM. On the other hand, an operation section 100 enters an ID specific to each image forming device. A main control section 600 extracts functions of the image forming system available at present depending on the operating state of each image forming device and when the operation section 100 selects a desired function of the image forming system and a selected and entered function of the image forming system is within a range of the available functions of the image forming system, the availability of the selected function is reported on a display means of the operation section 100. |
