PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for continuously measuring the amount of oxygen of a molten metal having a low oxygen content. SOLUTION: Dimension X is a measurement part 13a and a reference part 13b at both edges of an element 12 is configured largely by a solid electrolyte element 12 in the shape of a rod of long length and the temperature of the reference part 13b is maintained at a temperature lower than that of the measurement part 13a, thus suppressing an oxygen transmission speed J that is transmitted toward the molten metal. Further, a thermoelectromotive force Ec that is generated at the solid electrolyte element due to the temperature difference between the measurement part 13a and the reference part 13b is detected and the thermoelectromotive force Ec is subtracted from a measured thermoelectromotive force E0 , thus obtaining a value Em of a target electromotive force based on an oxygen partial pressure difference at both edges of the solid electrolyte element 13 and measuring the amount of dissolved oxygen in the molten metal based on the value Em. |
