PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical amplifier having a wide input dynamic range in which the flatness of waveform can be corrected automatically. SOLUTION: The optical amplifier comprises a regulation means 11 being introduced with a multiplex input light, means 12 for amplifying the multiplex light from the regulation means 11 optically, means 13 for branching the multiplex light from the optical amplifying means 12, means 14 for detecting a light partially branched by the branching means 13, and first and second control means 16, 18 for controlling the regulation means 11 and the optical amplifying means 12, respectively, by a detection signal from the detecting means 14 such that the branched multiplex light is kept at a specified level while sustaining specified waveform flatness characteristics. |
