METHOD FOR ESTIMATING SPEAKER POSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To configure a more economical and accurate system using a method for estimating speaker position in remote conference or when a plurality of persons are present in one room. SOLUTION: A plurality of means for transmitting signals having no effect on the hearing sense are set previously at different positions (S1), and a plurality of means for receiving the voice of a speaker are integrated individually with a plurality of means for receiving a signal from the transmitting means and set at different positions (S2). Based on the distance information between each transmitting means and receiving means, position of each sound receiving means is calculated by sequential approximation (S3) and the first time imaginary speaker position is determined from the time difference between receiving sound signals obtained from the sound receiving means (S4, S5) and the speaker position is determined by sequential approximation for approximating the first time imaginary speaker position sequentially to actual speaker position (S6, S7).
