PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that is easily and simply prevented in the generation of bright-time becoming a problem upon the narrowing of a picture frame. SOLUTION: This device is a liquid crystal display device provided with a liquid crystal display panel having a liquid crystal layer to be injected and sealed in between one pair of electrode substrates and a back light unit irradiating the liquid crystal display panel with irradiating light beams. In the liquid crystal display device in which the back light unit has a light source 108 and a light transmission plate 151 whose one side end part is arranged by being opposed to the light source 108, the light transmission plate 151 has the protruding part 11 provided at least at one side of the side of the liquid crystal display panel or a side opposite to the panel and a light shielding film 201 is provided at least in the area of one part of the inner surface of the protruding part 11.
