PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical glow starter requiring no radioactive material to be added while fixing the phosphor having energy more than a constant and showing sufficiently long phosphorescence on an outer or inner surface of a glow starter tube and by utilizing photoelectric effect caused by its persistence. SOLUTION: A long phosphorescence phosphor taking at least more than 15 hours to decay the luminance to 0.32mCd/m<2> is arranged in a discharge tube so that the persistence emitted from it at least a part enters the electrode surface of the discharge tube. The long phosphorescence phosphor is kneaded into a resin or the glass having the optical transmissive property and can be used to the whole or a portion of the discharge tube. The long phosphorescence phosphor is formed into a paint, ink or a luminous member with a resin having the optical transmissive property and can be fixed on the surface of the tube by coating, printing and adhesion. The luminous member 10 is formed by using the long phosphorescence phosphor, the luminous member 10 can be fixed on a part of the discharge tube so that the phosphorescence emitted from the long phosphorescence phosphor at least a part of it enters surface of the electrode of the discharge tube. |
