Applying transverse vibrations to the sidewalls of caster crystalliser unit - using pumped coolant fluid to apply variable cyclic pressure pulses to the crystalliser sidewalls

Transverse vibrations to the walls of a crystalliser unit used with the ingot mould of a casting machine are obtained by means of hydraulic pulsations of the coolant fluid passing through the crystalliser. The crystalliser coolant circuit comprises a flow channel directly contacting the sidewall of the crystalliser fed from a pumping unit with the coolant pressure applied in pulsation mode as a function of the transverse vibrations desired to be induced in respective areas of the sidewall.
