PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To unnecessitate any high speed electric circuit by selecting an optical signal having a low speed in an optical state from high speed optical time- division signals. SOLUTION: An optical signal and an optical clock transmitted from a star coupler 5 are separated by a wavelength demuliplexer 21, and the optical clock is transmitted to a clock oscillator 3. On the other hand, the optical signal is branched into N pieces by a 1×N optical brancher 22, desired wavelength is selected based on information from a routing control circuit 4 by a wavelength varying filter 23, and optical signal is transmitted to an optical gate switch 81. Then, a desired channel is selected according to timing information from a timing setting circuit 83 by the switch 81, and this optical signal is transmitted to a photodetector 25. As a result, an electric signal at a speed V[bit/s] is outputted from the photodetector 25. In this case, the use of an optical control type optical gate switch using an optical non-linear effect is valid as the optical gate switch 81 constituting a time channel selecting circuit 24 for selecting a desired signal column from high speed signal columns. Thus, a switch with large amounts of capacity beyond tera bits is obtained. |
