PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel hydrogen secondary battery equipped with a positive electrode having high charging efficiency in a high-temperature atmosphere. SOLUTION: This nickel hydrogen secondary battery is equipped with a case 1, a paste-type positive electrode 2 which is housed in this case 1 and wherein a paste including nickel hydroxide is filled in a three-dimensional substrate made up of a metallic porous body, a paste-type negative electrode 4 including a hydrogen storage alloy housed in the case 1, and a separator 3 interposed between the positive and the negative electrodes 2, 4, and the nickel hydroxide in the positive electrode 2 is adapted such that a half value width of a (001) surface peak in X-ray diffraction ranges from 1.0 deg./2θ to 5.0 deg./2θ and a ratio (W2 /W1 ) of the half value width W1 of the (001) surface peak to a half value width W2 of a (100) surface peak is 1.2 to 6.0. |
