摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of hardware by finding out a differential absolute value(DAV) sum corresponding to one motion vector candidate point by one cycle and successively executing the comparing operation of DAV sums corresponding to respective candidate points to execute motion vector detecting processing. SOLUTION: In the motion vector detecting device 100, a computing element group 103 computes a DAV between reference pixel data outputted from a reference image register group 101 arranged on the prestage and an encoded pixel data outputted from an encoding register group 102. An adder group 104 adds all of computed results from respective computing elements C0 to C15 in the group 103 arranged on the prestage to find out a DAV sum. The DAV sum found out by the adder group 104 is compared with the stored DAV sum and the smaller DAV sum is selected, stored and outputted. A DAV sum corresponding to one motion vector candidate point is found out by one cycle and the comparing operation of DAV sums corresponding to respective candidate points is successively executed to execute motion vector detecting processing.
