PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a defect that an ADF(automatic document feeder) is completely closed till an image processing means starts its operation and the size of an original cannot be detected. SOLUTION: An engine CPU 71 starts an image read operation by a scanner section 2 in response to an activated opening/closing detection switch 80 and gives a signal that denotes start of image processing to an image processing device 73 via a signal line 78. The image processing device 73 applies processing to input image data from the scanner section 2 in response to a start signal from the engine CPU 71. Image data after the processing are stored in a memory 79 provided in the image processing device 73. When a main CPU 70 receives information of the activated opening/closing detection switch 80 from the engine CPU 71 via a communication line 72 after the image processing by the image processing device 73 is stopped, the main CPU 70 reads the image data stored in the memory 79 and discriminates the size of the original. |
