PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ROM type magnetic disk medium using an embossed pattern suppressing floating fluctuation of a slider, its code conversion method and signal recording method. SOLUTION: This method is a code conversion methodϕapplied to manufacture of the ROM type magnetic disk medium 3 using the embossed pattern and making correspond a conversion code Ec for the embossed pattern based on a source code Sd of a K-bit (K is integer) length, and code converts for a source code Sd by selecting a conversion code Ec from conversion codes of L bit (L is integer, and L>K) length and corresponding, and the DSV value of the selected conversion code Ec is code-converted so as to be satisfied with DSV=L×(R-1)/(R+1) related to an island/sea ratio R being a given condition.
