PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily calculate an error position, to simplify the circuit constitution, and to easily make a circuit into an LSI. SOLUTION: This circuit is provided with an address generator 16 which has an initial valueα<-(> L<-1)> to express an address of symbol data having a code length L byα<-1> , a symbol data storage part 18 where data is written in the address generated by the address generator 16 at the time of storing input data, and an error position detection circuit which has an initial valueα<0> and detects an error positionα<-> P. The error positionα<-> P is previously obtained at the time of obtaining the solution of an error position polynomial; and at the time of outputting data, the addressα<-1> generated by the address generator 16 is taken as the address of the error position to correct data if the addressα<-1> generated by the address generator 16 coincides with the error positionα<-> P detected by the error position detection circuit.
