PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily perform access to a world wide web(WWW) site by transmitting uniform resource locator(URL) information while inserting it during the vertical blanking period (VBI) of a video signal, and performing access to the site designated by the URL information on the side of reception. SOLUTION: On the transmission side of television broadcast or a TV 1, the URL information encoding the URL of WWW site related to an image is superimposed on the VBI of the video signal and inputted from the TV 1 to a main body 3 of the personal computer(PC) system 2. A user performs access through a mouse 6 or a remote controller to the WWW site while watching a picture on a display 4 of the PC system 2. Besides, in the case of the internet TV, a TV signal transmitted from a broadcasting station is received, and the URL information superimposed on the VBI of the video signal is decoded. Then, only by pressing the key for access of remote controller, the site designated by the URL information is accessed.
