A food package (20) for containing a food product. The food package includes a tray (22) having a base (30) with an outer surface (30a) and an inner surface and a sidewall (32) extending from the base. The sidewall has outer surface and an inner surface and defines a tray opening (31). A sleeve (24) is provided which includes (i) a bottom section (50) disposed adjacent the outer surface of the base; (ii) a side section (52) disposed adjacent the outer surface (32a) of the sidewall; and (iii) a top section (56) secured to the sidewall and substantially covering the tray opening. In another embodiment, a plastic film is interposed between the tray and the sleeve. |
