<p>A toilet seat assembly (100) provides a lifting operation to assist a user in safely engaging and disengaging a toilet. Toilet seat (108) is pivotally connected to a base plate (102) for rotation between an inclined and a horizontal position. While the seat is inclined, the user may approach it from a slightly bent standing position. By pushing against the seat, the user's weight loads an energy storing struts (112, 114) and forces the seat to lower gently into the horizontal position. Upon completion, the energy stored in the struts assists the user in arising from the seat. The assembly is also provided with armrests (136, 138).</p> |
