Sheet metal barrel making process

The barrel making process involves making corresponding connecting surfaces on the barrel core and the two ends, so that when these surfaces are pressed together in a clamping device (24), an annular gap is formed between them. The ends and the barrel core are welded together by means of a focused laser beam (27), rotating the barrel or the laser welding head during welding. The annular edge (16) of the top (4) and bottom (5) are folded over and rolled. A plasma monitoring device may be used to ensure a well sealed weld joint.
